This particular ride is out of my personal experience. I have driven my Yamaha from Bangalore to Pondicherry. It was really a memorable ride of my life. Below are the details for somebody who wants to ride/drive from Bnaglore to Podicherry. Mine was a three day plan ( long weekend). The plan was:

Day 1:

we are leaving on saturday morning from Bangalore at around 5 Am

  • Distance of 350-400 KM has to be covered. 50KM/hr it need ~7 hrs + 4 hrs break.
  • Plan to reach Pondicherry before the sunset.
  • Hire accommodation and take rest.

Day 2:

  • Visit Ashram early morning.
  • Fort later.
  • Visit beaches in the evenings.
  • City in the night.

Day 3:

  • leave pondicherry by 5AM
  • Reach blore by 6pm.

    What to bring:

    • 2 geans
    • 3 t-shirts
    • 1 water proof jacket
    • Helmet
    • Short
    • water bottles and something to eat on the road.
    • Anything lighter and useful.
    • Minimum of 6 lts of petrol to begin with
    • Mobiles and charger
    • camera
    • Map print out
    • Small tool kit

    Don’t get:

    • laptop and costly items.
    • Delicate items.
    • Heavy items.

    Note:

    1. Since we don’t have to book anything…anybody can join us. But make sure you are at my stop by 5 AM. You don’t have to inform me. Just be there by 5AM or I am gone.
    2. Total distance covered 400 + 400 + 200 = 1000 KM almost 20 ltrs of petrol to be burnt on each engine. Many rural petrol bunks don’t take card. So bring enough cash.
    3. All records of the vehicle. RC + Insurance + DL.

    The Ashram guest houses are essentially intended for devotees of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother. They offer simple, clean, quiet and good accommodation.

    In Ashram guest houses you should be prepared to keep the rules. These are essentially: no smoking, alcohol, drugs or loud noise; the gates close at 22.30. Late arrivals should be informed in advance. Don’t expect TV or telephone connections in the rooms.

    Park Guest House has 80 rooms, with each a distinctive name (“Harmony”, “Surrender”, etc.) Most rooms with balcony are facing directly the sea, overlooking a beautiful garden.
    Breakfast and lunch available. Laundry service and bicycles for rent.

    * Cottage Guest House has 35 mostly simple rooms.

    20 centrally air-conditioned twin-bedded rooms with attached bath, hot water, closed-circuit color TV and telephone.
    Continental and Indian food serves by Pondy restaurant/Coffee shop, a bar and a few shops.
    Price: Rs. 1500 (single), Rs. 2400 (double), Rs. 3000 (suite).

    St. James Court
    St. James Beach Resort has air-conditioned cottages with satellite television, hot water, refrigerators and telephones.Multicuisine restaurant and an open-air tandoor restaurant, as well as a bar.
