Getting in and out of Airport
BIAL – Bengaluru International Airport[1] serves as both domestic and International airport is located 35km North of Bangalore city center (MG Road) and off National Highway 7 (Bangalore-Hyderabad Highway).
1. Auto rickshaws
Auto rickshaws are not available inside the airport.Auto rickshaws are not allowed beyond the Trumpet Flyover. Auto rickshaws can drop off passengers at the entrance to the Trumpet Flyover on NH7, connecting Bangalore to the Airport. A Shuttle Bus Service starting from the Trumpet Flyover to the Airport Terminal Building can be availed of at Rs. 10
2. BMTC Volvo or Suvarna Buses
Both AC Volvo and Regular buses are available from various points of Bangalore. I suggest regular (called Suvarna) as they are affordable and comfortable. Plan much ahead as most of these buses take ring route and hence will take more time to reach. From the center of the city [MG Rd] it might take around 1.5 hours to reach airport.
Advance booking is not necessary. You just have to be at the regulated bus stop on time.
But if you want you can advance book the to and fro seat online at www.bmtcinfo.com or www.viaworld.in and off-line on 080-41431000 against a reservation fee of Rs. 5/- per seat. & also www.redbus.in or contact on 080- 41483088
Go to BMTC BIAL Info[2] for details about the routes and timings.
3. Taxi
Taxies are expensive but reach airport faster than buses. Avoid them until unless you want to travel in odd time or you dont have much time left. Its good to call them before to book the taxi. Sometime they might not be available.
