This summer, let your children explore their creative side and learn to make beautiful impressions with a camera.
Darter Photography brings a photography workshop designed exclusively for children of age group between 10 to 16. The workshop comes with plenty of games, exercises and fun ways that keeps your kids on their toes all through the two days, eager to discover and learn more.
The workshop will direct the participants towards creative thinking and help them visualize the world through viewfinder in a way that makes appealing impressions. At the workshop, the participants will not only learn to make good photographs, but also start looking at different perspectives of everything around them, and begin appreciate the beauty in everything in their environment. The course also encompass the technical aspects of making images and understanding the necessary camera controls, all in an interesting and interactive manner that makes the learning more like a game and less a lesson.
All this in a setup that sets off their creativity in a quiet lodge at Banneraghatta National Park, run by Jungle Lodges and Resorts. Its wooded surroundings offer plenty of opportunities to use the camera, in a place far away from all the urban disturbances. To enable close interactions and to benefit from early morning light for photography, the participants will stay at the lodge on Saturday night.
What is the age group of children at the workshop?
This workshop is meant for children of age between 10 to 16.
What is the group size?
This workshop can accommodate a maximum of 15 participants.
What camera should the participants carry?
Participants should carry a camera with them. Any camera is good, be it as simple as a phone camera, an aim and shoot or a DSLR. An advanced camera is not a must.

Photography is a simple and easy hobby to cultivate and doesn’t require long learning periods. At the same time, it helps improves the child’s creative thinking and enhances the skills to observe and appreciate the beauty around. By attending this workshop and getting introduced to photography, children learn an activity that can keep them frequently engaged, active and curious.
Can you give us more information on the venue? What about safety, security and hygiene at the location?
The workshop is conducted at the property run by well-known Jungle Lodges and Resort. The property is well-managed and offers good quality accommodation. It is in an enclosed area with restricted and monitored access and the insides of the campus is perfectly safe for kids. Basic first aid is also available at the resort.
Course Content & Itinerary
The course is designed with lot of games and exercises to make the learning enjoyable. The contents of the course include
– introduction to cameras and photography accessories
– understanding the camera and its controls
– focus, exposure and image quality
– composition techniques
– understanding play of light
Dates: 21st and 22nd April, Saturday and Sunday.
– Pickup from Jayanagar at 9am on Saturday and travel to workshop venue
– Arrive at the lodge at 10am, check-in and begin the sessions. The participants will stay at the lodge tonight.
– Workshop ends at 4pm on Sunday. Checkout at 4pm and get dropped off at Jayanagar by 5pm.
The workshop will be conducted at Banneraghatta Nature Camp, managed by Jungle Lodges and Resorts, in the outskirts of Bangalore. The participants will stay at the camp on Saturday. The lodge and its surroundings, set in a quiet environment, offers excellent opportunities for hands on learning during the workshop.
Rs.4,500 per child.

The Mentors: Radha Rangarajan and Pradeep MR
This workshop takes a limited number of participants and is conducted by two mentors to ensure that every participant gets complete attention throughout the duration of the course. Besides being expert photographers with several published works and a lot of experience, both mentors have past experience working with kids of various age groups. Their friendly approach, energy to match that of children and an ability make the most serious topics fun to learn, will ensure that the workshop will morph all the learning into play!
