Sandesh Kadur – Sahyadris: India’s Western Ghats’A Vanishing Heritage’ Synopsis- SAHYADRIS: MOUNTAINS OF THE MONSOON follows the wildlife of these mountains, from the peaks of the High Ranges, where the drama of the Nilgiri tahr rutخever before fully captured on cameraشakes place during the height of the monsoon, to the thick shola forests, home to the highly endangered Lion-Tailed Macaque, to the dry deciduous forests at the foothills of the mountains, where elephants
and other wildlife wait in expectation for the coming deluge. Also explored is the relationship between spirituality and the strong conservation ethos of India, a land of over a billion people.

Synopsis – The film narrates the story of a unique campaign to save the valley from destructive development. The Silent Valley was declared a national park twenty years ago, in 1984. The Kerala State Electricity Board plans to build a dam on the fringes of the Silent Valley National Park at Pathrakadavu, across the river Kunthi. Nature lovers are concerned that the proposed dam will harm the pristine evergreen forests in the valley. This film shares the anxieties of the people of Kerala about the future of the Silent Valley.
K.P.Sasi-” The Wings of Kokkrebellur”
Synopsis -A film on the conservation values of the villagers of Kokkrebellur, Karnataka, who
protect painted storks and grey pelicans as a part of their ongoing culture and life.
Surabhi Sharma-”The Turtle People”
Synopsis ֠It shows the everyday life of the so-called Turtle People, in North Kerala (India),
fighting for the survival of an Olive Ridley Turtle nesting beach while their own survival is threatened by the sinking of their village due to the erosion of the shore from sand mining activity in their estuary. The film juxtaposes the community’s struggle against elements threatening their village and its natural resources with the cycle of life of the turtles.

P. Balan – “The 18th Elephant“-Synopsis
this film is a powerful critique of modern man’s mercenary attitude towards nature and his
anthropocentric conception of development. The sad plight of the elephant in both its wild and domesticated states exposes clearly how such behavior brings death and wreaks havoc on the lives and habitats of other species. Shot over five years, this is Balan’s third film.
Awards:
– Won the award for `the best scientific film/environment conservation/preservation film’ at the 51st National Award for Non Feature Films
- P. Balan, had featured in many international film festivals and had won many awards, including a nomination for the prestigious biennial environmental film festival at Bristol, the U.K., often termed as `Green Oscar’.
