“It is our task to set the stories free from the books and bring them to life again”
What
Jorg Baesecke, Hedwig Rost – storytellers.
Even if the line is borrowed the intent is the same. What better way to get that book into a child’s hand by revealing the myriad tales that lie with the covers of books!
A trip into the magical world that books can open up to children.
HOW
A day long festival of tales by artistes from India and abroad. Storytelling styles that go from traditional to puppetry, mime, kamishibai, Yakshagana, thudumbattam, theatre…
In Bengaluru, 2008 & 2009 saw at least 2500 children and about 30 performances each. The venue was a large park and there was a story beginning every 5- 10 minutes. Through the day, children walked in and listened to all the stories they wanted.

In Chennai, there were fixed performances with separate shows for schools during the day and for the general public in the evening. Atleast 1000 children participated in the event.
The 3rd edition of HOO’s Tales is here and will host storytellers and performers from the UK, Germany, New Delhi & Chennai.

Where
The 3rd edition of HOO’s Tales is scheduled for February 20th to 27th in Bengaluru & Chennai.

With storytellers and performers from the UK, Germany, New Delhi & Chennai, the festival opens with our day-long carnival at Bal Bhavan on February 20, 2010. Through the week, it will host workshops for teachers, parents, children, school shows and public performances at venues across the city.

Besides taking story tellers to schools, we have performances in:

Bengaluru:
Indian Institute of World Culture, RV Dental College Auditorium,
Alliance Francaise de Bangalore
Between 20th and 27th of February.

A brief, joyous break for kids before they go headlong into their final examinations. We believe this little time away from studies can only refresh their minds for the weeks of studies up ahead.

The dates for Bengaluru are 20th-24th February, and Chennai between 25th-27th February.
We hope to reach about 14,000 children across both the cities.

Chennai:
Smt. Sivagami Pethachi Auditorium, Russian Cultural Centre, Nageswara Rao Park
The festival ends in Chennai on Saturday, February 27, 2010 at the Nageswara Rao Park in Chennai with a 3-hour long event that will also see performances by local artistes
