‘Establishing a Daily Meditation Practice’ class
June 11th, 2009
Choe Khor Sum Ling, a Buddhist Meditation & Study Center, is organizing a class on “Establishing a Daily Meditation Practice”.
Meditation is of great importance in all religions, including the Buddhist tradition: prince Siddhartha became the Buddha, the Awakened One, after achieving Enlightenment in the profound meditation under a Bodhi tree.
By training in meditation, we create an inner space and clarity that enables us to control our mind regardless of the external circumstances. Gradually we develop mental equilibrium, a balanced mind that is happy all the time, rather than an unbalanced mind that oscillates between the extremes of excitement and despondency.
If we train in meditation systematically, eventually we will be able to eradicate from our mind the delusions that are the causes of all our problems and suffering.
The class will be held by Venerable Tenzin Namjong, a Buddhist monk. Originally from Hawai, USA, Venerable Namjong is currently studying Buddhism in Sera Jey Monastic University in Mysore district of Karnataka.
The class will be of equal interest to advanced practitioners and absolute beginners.
Schedule: June 13, Saturday, 06:30 PM – 08:30 PM
